Jakarta, 19 August 2025 – Technology has become an inseparable part of modern life, with various electronic products making daily activities more convenient. However, behind these benefits lies a serious challenge—the rapid growth of electronic waste (e-waste) year after year. According to The Global E-Waste Monitor report released by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), global e-waste reached 64 million tons in 2022, marking an 82% increase compared to 2010. The report also reveals that e-waste is growing five times faster than documented recycling efforts, highlighting a significant gap in global e-waste management.
UNITAR also reported that in 2022, Indonesia generated 1.9 billion kilograms of electronic waste, equivalent to 6.9 kilograms per capita. This figure places Indonesia first among Southeast Asian countries and fourth in Asia for the highest volume of e-waste produced. To address this issue, the Government of Indonesia enacted Government Regulation (PP) No. 27 of 2020 on the Management of Specific Waste, which includes electronic waste, to ensure it is managed properly so as not to harm the environment or endanger public health. Furthermore, through Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation (Permen LHK) No. 9 of 2024, every individual producing waste classified as Hazardous and Toxic Materials (B3), including electronic products, is required to reduce and manage such waste responsibly.
SCG, a leading regional business, together with one of its affiliated companies, Mitra10—under the umbrella of PT Catur Sentosa Adiprana Tbk (CSAP)—launched the “Trade-In: Tukar Baru, Tambah Seru!” program, an initiative designed as a concrete solution to address the growing problem of electronic waste (e-waste) accumulation in Indonesia. Through this program, the public is invited to trade in unused electronic items at 14 Mitra10 stores across the Greater Jakarta area and receive discount vouchers of up to IDR 500,000. Rekosistem has been selected as the official recycling partner for the Trade-In program due to its shared vision in promoting responsible and sustainable e-waste management. As a digital waste management company that has collaborated with various major institutions and is certified by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), Rekosistem is trusted to help expand the program’s reach while ensuring that the recycling process is carried out safely and in compliance with environmental standards.
Warit Jintanawan, Country Director of SCG Indonesia, reaffirmed SCG’s commitment and support for the Trade-In program initiated by Mitra10. “At SCG, we believe that Mitra10’s Trade-In program can be an effective step in raising public awareness about the growing issue of electronic waste, while also encouraging active participation in reducing e-waste accumulation at landfills. In line with our ESG 4 Plus principles, we see this initiative as a tangible contribution toward creating a greener and more sustainable future, as well as fostering the development of a more circular waste management system,” Warit explained.
SCG and Mitra10 Launch Trade-In Program to Provide a Solution for Electronic Waste Accumulation
Mitra10 has launched the “Trade-In: Tukar Baru, Tambah Seru!” program, inviting customers to trade in their old electronic items at selected 14 Mitra10 stores. All collected electronic items will be sorted and responsibly recycled in collaboration with Rekosistem, the official recycling partner of Mitra10. As a token of appreciation, customers participating in this program are entitled to receive discount vouchers of up to IDR 500,000 for each old electronic product they trade in.
Indra Gunawan, Director of Mitra10, of Mitra10 emphasized, “This program is a tangible manifestation of our commitment to promoting an environmentally friendly lifestyle, as well as our support for the Indonesian Government’s efforts in managing electronic waste. Through this program, we strive to reduce the number of electronic items ending up in landfills and to help build a more sustainable waste management system.”
Mitra10 offers three flexible Trade-In options for customers wishing to exchange their electronic items:
- Drop Off at Mitra10 Stores: Customers can bring their electronic items directly to the nearest Mitra10 store. The items will be exchanged for discount vouchers, with the value determined by the type of electronic product submitted.
- Scheduled Pick-Up: Customers can arrange an appointment with the Mitra10 team for home pick-up of their electronic items. Upon confirmation, the Mitra10 team, together with Rekosistem, will collect the items at the agreed location and time.
- Electronic Pickup Form Submission: Customers can also request item collection by filling out the online form at http://bit.ly/RekoHouseholdPickup. Once all data is completed and submitted, the Rekosistem team will contact the customer and collect the items according to the submitted details.

These three Trade-In options are expected to provide customers with convenient ways to hand over their used electronic items, which will then be recycled by the company in collaboration with its partners. “At Mitra10, we are ready to welcome the participation of the Indonesian public in submitting various types of unused electronic items, which will then be processed and repurposed into valuable products. This initiative is part of our joint commitment with SCG to deliver tangible solutions in reducing the accumulation of electronic waste in landfills, while also strengthening a circular decarbonization system,” added Indra.
Mitra10’s Trade-In Program aligns with the ESG 4 Plus principles, which form part of SCG’s business strategy to achieve sustainable green growth, also known as Inclusive Green Growth. The four core values of this principle are: achieving net zero emissions (Set Net Zero), creating environmentally friendly products and fostering green industries (Go Green), reducing social inequality (Reduce Inequality), and embracing collaboration with various stakeholders (Embrace Collaboration), complemented by the additional value of transparency and good governance (Plus).
